Yesterday after the Bondi Beach massacre, people were ecstatic that they thought a Muslim had rushed to save the people. It turned out to be a Christian.
It really doesn’t matter. What matters is we need to get everybody together and on the same page about fighting terrorism. It’s really, really unhelpful to see anti-Muslim comments out there, the level of bigotry. It’s just as bad as attacking Jews, attacking Christians. You’re just not getting it if you’re doing that. There is one problem, one problem, and that is people trying to assert themselves over other people and scapegoat other people and dehumanize them. That’s it. And what America is built on is that we don’t do that.
