Recipe: Lentils

SIMPLE SAVORY LENTILS

Prep time: 2 minutes

Cook time: 20–25 minutes

INGREDIENTS

Lentils

Water (3:1 ratio of water to lentils)

Broth powder or bouillon cube

Cooking oil

INSTRUCTIONS

Combine the lentils, water, broth powder, and a drizzle of oil in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pan with a lid, and simmer for 20 minutes.

When the time is up, taste the lentils to check the texture and flavor. If the lentils are still too firm, add a splash of water and continue cooking for a few more minutes. If the flavor is weak, stir in more broth powder. If the lentils feel dry or need more richness, stir in an additional drizzle of oil. Serve once they are tender and seasoned to your preference.
