Antisemites on X love to invoke the word “goyim” against Jews, implying that we are opposed to and conspiring against them secretly.
Let’s cut through the nonsense.
About half of Jewish Americans (45%) don’t observe any religion. 70% of married non-Orthodox Jews have a “goyish” spouse. And it’s common for Jewish men to fantasize about being with a “shiksa” (non-Jewish woman).
When Jewish immigrants arrived in America in the early 1900s, nearly all were Orthodox Jewish. But assimilation happened quickly and extensively.
- They had to work on Sabbath.
- The “goyish” lifestyle appealed to them.
Same happened in Europe, prior, during the 1800s.
Jewish immigrants not only loved non-Jewish American-ness, they participated in its cultural creations, e.g. Irving Berlin writing “White Christmas” to Philip Roth’s obsession with “shiksappeal” in Portnoy’s Complaint. Jews trying to be non-Jewish was a thing.
The phenomenon of Jews trying their best to escape their identity is so common that it’s referenced in the Bible as the source of spiritual downfall — the Midianite women enticing the Jewish men.
The point is, what you’re getting from lowlife, uneducated X antisemites, with their constant use of “goyim” as an attack on Jews, is actually the opposite of historical reality.
Don’t lower your IQ by listening to bigots.
