President Trump could have been our greatest president, except for the fact that he directly challenged God.
Regardless of his success in restoring our nation’s freedom—and I do believe he has made great strides and will continue to do so—the fact remains that he has established a leadership ethos grounded in absolute loyalty, placing it even above loyalty to God and one’s own conscience.
In his own words, he stated, “Without me there would be no Israel.” That simply cannot stand.
The central lesson of this week’s Torah portion, Korach, is that no man can challenge God, His decisions, and His ways.
While I continue to admire his strategy, I strongly challenge his self-promotional methods. He should follow the example of Moses and say, “I am only a servant; there is only one God, and I serve only Him.”
There is still an opportunity for the President to retract his words, and he should do so.
