Peace Thoughts

I remember going to an interfaith Muslim-Jewish dialogue event and thinking how similar our cultures are.

The clerics who do not shake women’s hands because it’s not modest are just like our Orthodox rabbis who do the same.

The generous portions of food. Food as a language of care.

The incredibly delicious Middle Eastern cuisine. Wow!

Beautiful Muslim fashion.

Creativity and diversity.

I will never forget the co-organizer of the event called me “sister.”

There is a gigantic world out there. Isaac and Ishmael carried Abraham’s coffin together.

Peace is not a pipe dream. It is possible.

Let the only wars we fight be cooking and fashion competitions.
