I strongly oppose the anti-Muslim rhetoric coming from some self-described ‘patriotic’ accounts. Now, they want to ban airport accommodations for ablution. Ablution stations provide a dedicated, hygienic space for travelers to perform wudu—which involves washing the hands, face, arms, and feet to prepare for prayer. The station prevents water from splashing onto bathroom floors and avoids the need for travelers to place their feet in or around conventional sinks. It is frankly unhygienic—not to mention uncomfortable and potentially dangerous—to force travelers to wash their feet in a sink, especially considering that many pray five times a day. This type of hatred is reprehensible and un-American. If you want to promote love of country among the Islamic community, degrading them is not too bright. Plus, if someone falls down because the airport discriminated against them on the basis of religion, you’re looking at a costly lawsuit. There should be accommodations (to the maximum extent practicable) for all faiths whose practices require it. A little common sense goes a long way.
