Let me tell you something. There are many, many ways to interfere in an election that don’t have to do with fake ballots. One of the worst things that you can do to interfere with an election is to spread lies about the other candidate over and over and over and over again, deploy all means of lawfare against them, try to get them thrown in jail, bankrupted, people write books about them, just literally make stuff up.
That is how you interfere with an election. You create an image of the candidate that is so bad that people say to anyone who supports the candidate that they’re bad. And unfortunately, that is what has happened to anyone who supports President Trump, or who supports Bibi Netanyahu, or even Israel, for that matter.
The number of comments is one thing on social media, but literally, literally educated people, mainstream media, people who should know better, and they just repeat absolute lies and garbage. The cumulative effect of that is to ruin any chance of a fair discussion of the merits of anybody’s opinions. When you have a polluted airspace of ideas, and then you go into, let’s say a town hall or whatever, and you’re having a discussion about people’s beliefs, there’s many local town halls happening.
Nowadays, even if you’re a Republican and you walk into a Democratic-led area, they look at you like you are absolute vermin. So it is unfortunate it has happened to me, not at town halls (and I was never especially political) but the minute I became known as a Trump supporter and interested in all the Trump stuff, oh did I become a pariah amongst my friends, friends from high school, and even in my community. I mean, it took a really long time for that to die down.
So that is election interference, and that is the type of toxic behavior we absolutely shouldn’t tolerate on either side.
Think about it.
