There’s been a lot of discussion regarding the case involving Adeena Kohn and the current seruv against Rafi Stein.

I am not in favor of a one-sided attack against him. I think it will only further harden his stance and lead nowhere.

While it’s technically true that a Get should be given when a marriage is over, and a seruv has been issued, we have to look at the full picture to reach a lasting resolution.

In this case, the move to Monsey on an emergency basis was a clear breach of trust that bypassed the normal legal process. To end the protracted wrangling, we need a solution that addresses both the halachic requirements and the civil reality.

First, the civil settlement and the giving of the Get must be tied together. Neither side should have to cross the finish line alone.

Second, the husband can place a Get in escrow with the Beis Din immediately. This Get would be executed the moment a final agreement is reached in civil court.

This approach restores a level of fairness to the negotiations, ensuring that custody and financial issues are settled while guaranteeing that the Get is provided.

Let’s move past the bad faith actions of the past and focus on a structured closing that protects everyone—especially the children.

Both sides need to be reasonable.

A campaign of pornographic images to shock the world into agreement with Adeena is anti-Torah, exploitive of women, and degrading of everyone.
