Cornell Will Become A Midterms Issue

If the Republicans are not careful, the Cornell rape case is going to cost them the midterms, and let me explain why. The President Trump side unifies people around protecting children, but the claims that are often made about the extent of child trafficking are not discussed very much in the mainstream media. We just don’t see it.

And so because of that, regardless of the excellence of the work, it falls flat as a campaign changemaker. On the other hand, every woman either has been a victim of sexual assault or knows a victim of sexual assault. And so when you see dismissive comments from people who seem to be on the Trump side, it is politically really, really bad, really bad.

Never underestimate how cynical politics is. When the Democrats realize, and they have realized it very quickly, just how effective the Cornell narrative is for their political purposes, they are going to repeat it over and over and over and over again. And they are going to point to every statement by a so-called conservative who seems to say that if a woman goes into a party drunk, she has automatically consented to being raped.

That is a no at the polls every single time. So I would suggest that conservatives really start to think about protecting all women by holding predators accountable now.
